Wolves and Spices

First post here, so pardon me if this is the wrong forum. Concerning "Wolf and Spice" (or "Spice and Wolf", or "Spicy Wolf", or whatever!), I was wondering if people have noticed that the male protagonist is more cowardly in the anime (thanks, I-Z) than in the manga. I can only compare with the first four chapters of the manga, and have not read the novels at all, but so far that is my impression. I was wondering if people who have seen more of the written versions agree.
